    The Catskill Mountains and the Hudson Valley are home to a wealth of activities and events. From the great outdoors, art and music to shopping – we have it all! As our guest, you’ll receive a list of local activities and events daily during your stay. Our Concierge is happy to assist you with scheduling the adventure of your choice and of course our Reservations Department can help you customize your stay prior to arrival.

    The Emerson Cross Country Ski Trail
    The Emerson Resort & Spa is proud to be a member of the Cross Country Ski Areas Association. Cross Country Skiing is easy to learn, it is healthy, family friendly, accessible and most of all affordable. Grab your ski or snowshoe rentals at our Ski Shop in the Country Store and venture out on our 1.2 mile cross country trail! Upon your return, relax by our outdoor firepit with a cup of hot chocolate from the Country Store Cafe. Sound like this is only for Emerson guests? No way! The trail is open to all visitors looking for fun in our winter playground. We’ll see you on the trail!

    Open Daily (depending on snow level) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
    Rates: $10 area charge / $20 rental ski boots and poles or snow shoes.

    The Emerson Ice Skating Pond

    A clear crisp moon lit night, a warm inviting fire reflecting on a frozen country pond, skaters darting to and fro in the shadow of a Red Country Barn. Children’s warming themselves with hot chocolate and toasting marshmallows completes a perfect winter night. Our outdoor skating pond is the perfect end to a great family day of skiing. Rentals are available in our ski shop and our pond is attended weather permitting and with restricted hours.

    • Rent Skis, Snowshoes & Ice Skates at our Ski Shop and venture out on our Cross Country Ski Trail or Ice Skating Pond! The area charge is complimentary to overnight guests, *weather permitting.
    • Enjoy the winter wonders of Belleayre Mountain, New York’s Winter Snow Park. Just minutes West of the Emerson, Belleayre Mountain offers winter sports such as skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing. Nearby Hunter Mountain , “The Snowmaking Capital of the World” features winter sports and the highest zip line canopy tour in North America.
    • The Catskills are rich with scenic mountain trails. Ask our concierge about nearby hiking trails and guided hike rates with Peekamoose Adventures.
    • Enjoy the perfect picnic. Our kitchen will prepare a delightful picnic for an afternoon hike or biking excursion. We’ll even provide you with directions to a few of our staff’s favorite picnic locations.
    • The Esopus is known world-wide as a mecca for trout fishing. Fishing permits are available in Phoenicia, and if you’re lucky enough to bring something back, our chefs will be pleased to prepare your catch for dinner. Our Emerson Outfitter Shop also carries children’s fishing gear and accessories.
    • Hop on the Catskill Mountain Railroad and enjoy a ride along the scenic Esopus or in the historic city of Kingston.
    • Looking for thrills and chills? Town Tinker Tube Rental offers whitewater tubing on the Esopus.
    • Take a scenic walk around portions of the Ashokan Reservoir, a man-made wonder that provides much of the drinking water for New York City.
    • Looking to go Horseback Riding? Check out what the Ashokan Riding Club has to offer. This is a great year round activity for the family.
    • Experience world-class rock climbing and ice climbing on the dramatic cliffs of the Shawangunk Mountains.
