Cabaret Duo Brings “Twice As Nice” to the Emerson Resort & SpaPosted on: Thursday, February 17, 2011
Male and female duet plus a baby grand piano bring cabaret musical duets to Catskills resort. The Emerson hosts “Twice as Nice” based on the most famous and popular duets with music on 3/12/11.
(Mt. Tremper, NY) February 10, 2011 – On Saturday, March 12th at 8 p.m., jazz cabaret duo
Ann Osmond & Dennis Yerry will perform “Twice As Nice… celebrating the art of the duet” at the Emerson Resort & Spa (http://www.emersonresort.com/).
Baby Grand Piano & Famous Duet Songs
In the tradition of great duos (think Ella & Louis, Fred & Ginger, Judy & Barbra) the program will include a variety of jazz, Broadway and popular tunes by such composers as Johnny Mercer, Duke Ellington, Stephen Sondheim, and Chick Corea. It will take place in the Emerson Resort & Spa’s lovely Great Room, where Yerry will be at the baby grand and the two will sing together, weaving in tight harmonies and repartee.
“We love the simple elegance and easy rapport of the old variety shows where two performers pulled up stools side by side and shared the joy of making music,” said Osmond. “We’ve really enjoyed exploring these wonderful tunes and coming up with our own unique take on them – Dennis’ arrangements are exquisite.”
erry added, “These days there’s a lot of talk about the ‘resurgence’ of cabaret and a renewed appreciation for live music in intimate venues. We’re so happy that audiences are embracing and honoring this tradition once again.”
Jazz Cabaret Duo Brings the Best Musical Duets to Emerson
The two have immersed themselves in the genre for some time; Osmond has been producing cabaret events in the area for over 10 years and Yerry’s career has always been anchored in the immediacy of live acoustic music, from cabaret to big bands.
Osmond is a singer and actor with roots in the theatre, and Yerry an accomplished jazz composer and pianist whose career encompasses a myriad of musical genres.
