Master Cellist Yo-Yo Ma Relaxes and Rejuvenates At the Emerson Resort & Spa

MT. TREMPER, N.Y., March 7, 2008– It was a whirlwind visit to the Hudson Valley but legendary cellist Yo-Yo Ma managed to take some time to rest and relax at the award-winning Emerson Resort & Spa on March 5 as he prepared for his performance that evening at the famed Ulster Performing Arts Center in nearby Kingston.
Ma arrived at the Emerson with his “friends,” as they were billed for the performance, and they enjoyed a special lunch prepared by the resort’s Phoenix Restaurant executive chef Ross Fraser.  The troupe then took some time to relax in the resort’s luxurious accommodations; Mr. Ma enjoying the same suite that just three days prior was inhabited by comedian Bill Cosby.  The Emerson staff found Mr. Ma to be truly genuine in his appreciation for life, as evidenced in the passion by which he plays his instrument.

“Mr. Ma was as cordial and friendly as any guest we’ve ever had, “said Alex Gitter, the Emerson’s Deputy General Manager.  “He was particularly impressed by the new Emerson Inn’s Silk Road design because of his eight year involvement with his own Silk Road Project.  It was a true honor to have him as our guest.”
Ma and his group spent the day at the Resort before being transported via the Emerson luxury shuttle to UPAC where they performed to a sold out audience.
