Meet the Chef!
A graduate of the Johnson & Wales Culinary School, Mike Fichtel’s interest in cooking was sparked when, at age 15, he worked his first job as a dishwasher for a thriving eating establishment. Mike found himself attracted not only to satisfying hungry appetites, but also to the sense of comfort found in restaurants that cater to a local community clientele. As the Emerson’s Executive Chef for the Catamount Restaurant, Mike looks to make guests feel at home each time they dine at the Cat… a theme that is the core of the Emerson philosophy.
Mike’s experience includes 5 years with the Hyatt Hotel group and 8 years managing Mish Mash, which during its tenure was rated as one of the top 10 restaurants in Connecticut. Mike’s overall food aesthetic is fresh, wholesome, and simple. He invites you to stop by the Cat for a good meal, a relaxing time and a taste of home.
